Honours Golf began in 1998 as a partnership built on the love of the game. The company was founded by golf industry veteran Bob Barrett and Rob Shults, and together they had one goal- to create golf courses which provide something more than just an ordinary round of golf – an experience that would be talked about for years. Their vision was simply defined as providing award-winning golf courses with exceptional conditioning, hire dedicated team members who share a passion for golf, and deliver impeccable personalized service. They based the foundation of their company on their shared philosophy – golf is more than a game. They believe golf builds character, instills core values, brings friends, family and colleagues together in friendship and honorable competition. For these reasons, they named the company “Honours” after the values for which it stands.
Honours Golf signed it first golf course management contract in December 1998 and has continuously grown its boutique brand throughout the Southeast. In 2014, Honours was acquired by Troon®, the leader in upscale golf course management, development, and marketing. Honours golf is based in Birmingham, Alabama with plans to grow the brand throughout the eastern part of the United States.
